DOGS

DOGS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN ANY OF THE RACES:

Park City Trail Series is a race series for human runners and we have made the decision to keep dogs off of the courses with runners in an effort to maintain a safe, high quality, and predictable experience for the hundreds of human athletes that are participating.  We recognize that dogs make fantastic running buddies and encourage athletes with dogs to continue to train for the races with their 4 legged friends without the added stress to human or animal of being in large crowd.

This decision was made for safety reasons and out of respect for athletes and spectators who are not comfortable around dogs. Runners with a dog will be removed from the results and ineligible for raffle prizes. There will not be dog water bowls at the aid stations.

OTHER TRAIL USERS

We do have a permit to be using these trails but they are not reserved for us and they are not closed to other users. Please be courteous when passing mountain bikers, other runners, or dogs.

WILDLIFE

As race directors, we are constantly scoping these courses and watching for changes in the trails. In all of our time in Round Valley we have come across a variety of wildlife including porcupine, fox, moose, birds of prey and the Majestic Rocky Mtn Elk. Wildlife doesn’t want to be bothered so if you encounter wildlife, the best thing to do is back away non-aggressively. Consider yourself lucky if you get to see these normally-hidden creatures!

SAFETY

Safety is first priority for the Park City Trail Series. Racing takes place 100% on dirt. Parts of the course include dirt roads, double track, single track, uphills, downhills, switch backs, and other challenges.  Like any good trail run, you can expect some ruts, roots, rocks, grass, shade, mud, and other challenges. The longer courses cover a wider variety of terrain and challenge.

The Wasatch Mountains are blessed with mostly sunny weather and deep blue skies but things can change, sometimes quickly. We advise you to check the Park City, Utah weather forecast within 24 hours of each race.

If for any reason, runners need assistance in making it back to the start/finish area, volunteers placed along the course will be able to radio to the finish area for help.

As runners pick up their bib numbers at the start area, they will be “checked out.” Once a runner crosses the finish line and the bib tag is pulled, the runner will be “checked in” and will be accounted for. This will help to ensure all runners return safely back to the finish line.

START TIME

All three events start at 8:00 am. We pride ourselves on starting on time. Racers may be assigned a start time as part of a Covid protocol if necessary.

AID STATIONS

ALL PCTS RACES HAVE GONE CUPLESS!

Every race has aid stations stocked with water, Nuun hydration and friendly volunteers every 1.5-2 miles. For more specific information aid station locations, visit the course info page.

Due to the nature of the courses all aid station materials must be mountain biked on/off the course. Therefore, there will be water along the course but runners are expected to carry their own electrolytes and gels. Nuun will be available at the start area. Runners wishing to carry electrolytes with them may fill their water bottles with Nuun before the race begins.

Staying hydrated is crucial to safety and performance. Please consider carrying a refillable hydration pack and plan to carry out you own gels packets and wrappers.

MILEAGE MARKERS AND TRAIL DIRECTIONS

Mileage will be marked at every mile. Intersections are marked with white signs with a big black arrow pointing where to go.  We pride ourselves on making the courses easy to follow.  People even tell us our races are more well marked and easier to navigate than road races!

All markers will be staked into the ground on the side of the trail at intersections. Please be aware of the signs and don’t blindly count on the person in front of you.

Check out the course info page to view a map and GPS profile of each course.

CANCELLATION

In the event that a registered runner can not attend, no refunds or transfers will be allowed.

In the event that weather prevents the event from taking place, the event will be canceled with the POSSIBILITY of rescheduling; no refunds will be given.
